Dani Alves confirmed juventus exit, post emotional goodbye message to the fans (Details, pics)
The Brazilian international arrived in Turin on a free transfer from La Liga giants Barcelona last summer and went on to play a huge role in Max Allgeri’s side winning the Serie A and Coppa Italia double as well as reaching the Champions League final.
However, the 34-year-old won’t be around next season in an attempt to replicate such form in Italy as despite signing a two-year contract, he’s revealed that he will become a free agent this week and posted an emotional message on instagram issuing an apology to the club’s supporters. It was written in Italian but the translation reads.
“I would love to thank all the Juventus fans for this year, all my teammates for welcoming me and how professional you are, you are the reason this club keeps winning and reaching finals.
“I think my respect for the club and fans was clear evident from my dedication, my passion and the fact I gave everything to make this club even better everyday.
“I want to say sorry to the Juventus fans if at any moment they thought I had done something to offend them, that was never my intention, I just live life in the moment and very few people understand that.
‘Today our professional relationship ends’
“Although it seems I’m not perfect, my heart is pure. Today our professional relationship ends and I will remember all those who truly make Juventus a great club.
“As you know, whether good or bad, I always say what I think and feel. I feel I should say thank you to Mr Marotta for the opportunity he gave me, he’s a great professional who loves his job like few others do.
“I don’t play football for money, I play football because I love this job and respect those who are part of it. I’ll leave it up to you to judge what I have done and what I have worked for.
“I LOVE FOOTBALL and money will never be enough to keep me in one place. Thank You”
This news is likely to alert Premier League duo Manchester City and Chelsea. Both are reportedly interested in the right-back who can also operate in a right-wing back role as Pep Guardiola and Antonio Conte seek to bolster their respective squads ahead of the new campaign.
A switch to the Etihad Stadium – where he would reunite with his former Barcelona manager – does seem to be the most likely option at the moment as the Spanish tactician has already allowed Pablo Zabaleta and Bacary Sagna to depart this summer.
