'Women are created to rule the world' - Reni Folawiyo on FBW

When Nigeria businesswoman, Reni Folawiyo, decided to launch the first ever luxury fashion destination for Nigerians and Westerners alike, she had several hurdles to overcome. The idea was not only bold and unheard of, but she also had to contend with naysayers who said her ideas were too far fetched. On Against The Odds with Peace Hyde, Folawiyo shares with Forbes Woman Africa, just how powerful the resolve of a woman can be and how to achieve your passion now matter the difficulties.

‘I had a thirst for doing something creative so I transitioned from being a lawyer to being a creative person,’ she said. ‘Creative person means I wanted to be involved in the arts, one way or another. And that’s how my career as a creative person started.

’On starting her business, she said, ‘The love for beauty moved me into wanting to be part of the luxury world.‘ Most people were excited, but I think people didn’t really understand the depth of it.‘I don’t think even I understood the depth of it but the more I started, the more encouragement I got from everyone.

‘Even people who were not sure of what it was going to be were supportive, anywhere I went.’
