What's that Formation? Beyonce inks over the matching IV wedding tattoo she got with husband Jay Z (Details, pics)

You can't erase the past, but you can certainly draw over it.

The singer, 36, and her rapper husband, 47, both inked the Roman numeral for 'four' after they tied the knot on April 4, 2008.But close-ups of the singer's hand in fashion shots posted on her website this week reveal she has since had the tattoo inked over to form a new mystery symbol.

The number four has significance to the couple as both their birthdays are on the fourth of the month, as is her mother Tina's.

Beyonce's fourth Album was called 4, Jay Z's most recent one was called 4.44, and their first born Ivy's name also begins with the Roman numeral IV.

Earlier this year, on their anniversary, she shared an extensive playlist on Tidal she put together for the 47-year-old entitled 'IV Ever Ever.

'That same day she released the new video for her track Die With You, made up of home videos the pair made, which included the first look at them first getting their matching tattoos together.

But now her tattoo has taken on a different shape, and depending on which angle its viewed from, could be the Gurmukhi letter ra, the Coptic sampi, the Cyrillic capital letter nje, or simply a pitch and putt flag.
