Cristiano Ronaldo wins IFFHS world’s best goalscorer for 2016 award (Details, pics)

This is the third time the former Manchester United star has won the award, the first individual to have achieved the feat and one ahead of Lionel Messi.

Cristiano, who scored 24 goals (11 in international games with Real Madrid and 13 with Portugal), beat Messi (21), Cavani and Ahmad (16) to the prize. The forward has picked up the award on more occasions than any other player, having now won it in 2013, 2014 and 2016, eclipsing the two held by Messi.

The IFFHS was founded in Leipzig, Germany in 1984 and gives out awards for the world’s best playmaker and best club coach, and more.
