David Beckham delights super fan with rare skin conditions by surprising him with Pride Of Britain Award (Details, pics)

The 42-year-old football ace announced to Moin that he was being feted with the Child/Teenager of Courage Award amid his battle against a rare genetic skin disorder which causes the skin to blister or bleed at the slightest touch.

David Beckham delighted superfan Moin Younis when he presented the 17-year-old with a Pride Of Britain Award, in scenes set to air on Tuesday night's show. The teen, who accepted his gong at the POB ceremony last month, was so stunned by the arrival of his hero, that he revealed he could not stop talking about David's hair - which he has recently grown into a long, blond bob.

Moin has defied medics over the years and remains an active and positive inspiration to others, as he has committed himself to making life better for those also suffering by becoming an ambassador for Acorns charity. As he sat in a changing room at Wembley alongside iconic Aston Villa player Peter McPartlin, he cheekily revealed he had David's phone number.

Moin then discussed his love of football great David, saying: 'I've always been a big fan of David Beckham. I think it's his passion for the game', after which he was put on the phone despite thinking he wouldn't pick up. The startled youth appeared aghast as he said: 'Is this really... erm hello. Am I supposed to believe this is David Beckham?', to which the star confirmed: 'It really is David Beckham. I've heard you're a keen football fan.'

After pretending he had bad phone signal which was cutting off their line, David then walked into the room to the sheer shock and delight of Moin who could hardly believe his eyes.

David then said: 'I've heard a lot about you Mo. You're an amazing person who does so much for other people and everything you have had to go through and are going through.'

You care about so many other people and you care about being an ambassador which is incredible. So the reason I'm hear today is to surprise you with the news that you've won the Pride Of Britain Award.

'Mo then responded: 'This is the best day of my whole life. I can't get my hair as good as you.' Once away from Davis he continued: 'I was that lost for words. I saw his hair and I got on to hair topics. He was standing right next to me.'

The courageous philanthropist previously spoke of his battle, saying: 'You can imagine cutting yourself or burning yourself - now just think for a second how much it would sting.

'That's pretty much how I feel everywhere. I go to sleep at night hoping to not wake up the next day, so I do not have to go through this routine.'

As he appeared on stage, he gave an incredibly moving speech, reading: 'A lot of people take life for granted. 'While I am here I want to get the message out to people to enjoy life. Please, please get the most out of your life and make the most of what you have.' 

Speaking of Moin's efforts, Chris Reed, Head of Care at the Hospice in Birmingham, previously said: 'He's one of a kind. The challenges he faces every day are immense and I don't know how he does it, how he carries on and maintains that funny and cheeky manner that we all love.'

Once you've met Moin you don't forget him. He takes on life with incredible courage and guts and he's incredibly frank and open about his struggles.'

Moin was shortlisted for Pride of Britain after winning a Pride of Birmingham Award earlier this year. In a moving speech that had the audience on its feet he said: 'David has long had an affiliation with the awards, as in 2015 he presented Sohana Collins, then-13, with the Teenager of Courage prize. Sohana has a rare genetic condition called recessive dystrophic epidermolysis bullosa (EB).

Elsewhere in his career, David also celebrated the opening of the Kent & Curwen flagship store in Covent Garden with David Kearns on Tuesday. Showing no signs of slowing down following his retirement from football, David told ES Magazine at the launch that teaching his four children the notion of hard work is one of his top priorities.

The former Man Utd, Real Madrid and AC Milan star who is known to be a fashion fan, recently bought a stake in the brand - which was formerly on the famous Savile Row.

He explained: 'It's something we definitely try to instill in the kids, by talking to them, in our own actions.
