The number of times Lai Mohammed has actually lied (Details, pics)

The assertion of Nigeria’s information minister of not lying before is also another lie.Nigeria’s Minister of Information and Culture, Alhaji Lai Mohammed is one of the comic actors in the current administration of President Muhammadu Buhari as his position tends to constantly put him in public light.

What is more interesting is the way he conducts his business as the information director of the government. His pronunciations are found to always tend the tune or create a topic for public discourse. Hence, many media organisations and people are always interested in what Mr Lai has to say.True to this assertion, the minister was reported to have told journalists at an interactive session held in Lagos on Wednesday, November 9, 2017, that he has never lied before.

This was a man trying to wash-off the tag of 'liar' that's synonymous with his name ‘Lai’.

"I have two burdens. The first is that I happen to be the face of the opposition, and PDP has not forgiven me, and I do not think they will ever forgive me…. Incidentally, my father gave me the name Lai, also. So, it makes it very easy for them to make me a liar. But what I challenge them every time is, please, give me one thing I said that is not true. I have never told lies before,” Mr Lai said.Taking up the challenge, these are the few number of times Mr Lai had actually said something which turns out be false.

1.    Refuting President Buhari’s promise of first 100 days in Office – July 31, 2015

The first of these accounts was Mr Lai’s denial of Buhari’s first 100 days in office promises to Nigeria. Mr Lai during an interview with a local TV channel, Channels TV, on July 31, 2015, said: “Buhari never promised to do anything in 100 days, that’s the honest truth.”

However, a check on this showed that President Buhari actually promised some actions would be taken in his 100 days in the document titled: “My Covenant With Nigerians”, and was part of campaign materials of the party and President Buhari, then as a candidate.

2.    Boko Haram ‘technically defeated’ – December 23, 2015

Another time Mr Lai Mohammed seems to have said something that turned out to be a lie is the technical defeat of the terrorist group, Boko Haram...

On December 23, 2015, Mr Lai Mohammed told the BBC News that he could “confidently” say that “the war against Boko Haram is largely won“.

However, forty-eight hours later a wave of attacks by female suicide bombers claimed the lives of more than 50 people in northeastern Nigeria.

3.    El-Zakzaky is "actually not in prison" – June 16, 2017

Mr Lai Mohammed also said something untrue about the incarceration of Shi'a Muslim cleric, Ibrahim El-Zakzaky. He told Channels TV on June 15, 2017, that the cleric is actually living with his family in a house provided by the Federal Government for his own benefit.

"How many Nigerians know that El Zakzaky is actually not in prison custody nor police custody nor DSS custody? El-Zakzaky is in a house with his family, this is the honest truth."

The minister said, "The court ruled that he will be released after his house has been rebuilt. Nobody wants to accept El-Zakzaky as a neighbour. So we have been able to build a house, where do we release him to."

A recent letter from Mr Femi Falana to President Buhari said the cleric has been in DSS custody since December 2015.

4.   Even though Buhari is in London Hospital, He is still patronizing made in Nigeria drugs.

Earlier this year, The culture and information minister was quoted saying that Even though the president of Nigeria, Muhammad Buhari is receiving medical attention at a London hospital, He is still making use of of the locally made drugs and medicines in Nigeria.

Do you need anyone to tell you that that's also a big lie?

How can someone who can't receive medical care in his own country which he is the number citizen still patronize the drug made in the same country even when he has gone to a better country where the medical facilities is much more better.
