Everton had gone two goals up in the first half thanks to the efforts of Wayne Rooney, and the striker completed his hat-trick with a stunning goal from inside his own half.

Joe Hart came sliding out of his goal to tackle Calvert-Lewin and the ball ran out to Rooney who did not hesitate and sent the ball flying into the net from the halfway line.
