Senator Dino Melaye chairs committee to probe customs over alleged monumental waste (Details, pics)
The Nigerian Senate has named Senator Dino Melaye as the chairman of a committee set up to investigate the Nigerian Customs Service for allegedly promoting monumental economic waste by stockpiling perishable foods and products seized by the service.
The constitution of the 8 man ad-hoc committee was announced by deputy Senate president, Ike Ekweremadu, during plenary on Wednesday, December 20, after Senator Mohammed Hassan raised the issue in the chamber.
Senators named as part of the committee include;

2. Enyinnaya Abaribe
3. Gilbert Nnaji
4. Mohammed Hassan
5.Abdullahi Adamu
6. Bassey Akpan
7. Garba Binta
8. Sam Anyawu
Senator Dino Melaye was named as chairman of the committee.
In another report, the Nigerian Senate has resolved to intervene in the arrest of Chukwuma Innocent, the chairman Innoson motors who was arrested by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) on Tuesday, December 19.
The upper chamber has ordered its committee on anti-corruption and financial crimes to investigate the matter and report to it in 24 hours.
The lawmakers began deliberation on the matter after deputy Senate president, Ike Ekweremadu, raised the issue during plenary on Wednesday, December 20.
Ekweremadu who cited order 42 and 52, faulted the EFCC for arresting Chukwuma over a personal transaction the business man had with a certain commercial bank.
