White man celebrates his black wife of 40 years, recounts how their love grow in the midst of rejection (Details, pics)

A white professor who married a black woman has celebrated their love for over forty years of marriage. The professor identified as John Struthers expressed that they both fought for their love even people disapproved.

The professor celebrated his love for his wife on social media. In the post he shared on Twitter, he noted that he and his wife have suffered lots of racist comments and disapproving looks but they continued to love one another.

Struthers who shared a photo of himself and his wife rocking African fabric known as Kente explained that the best way to fight racism is living your life, standing tall and educating people.

A Twitter user identified simply as Jay who explained that his grandparents had a similar situation thanked Struthers for sharing his story.

Jay said: “Total respect for you both. My nan was disowned by her family in the early 50's for marrying my grandad who originally came from Nigeria (she was from Co. Mayo) She chose love over ignorance and bigotry and the rest is history #diversity”

Meanwhile, Twitter users who were inspired by their love commended the couple for fighting for their love and overcoming challenges no matter the obstacles they faced along the way.
