Manchester United defeated a tough Burnley side by 1-0 at Turf Moore with a second half strike from French international Anthony Martial.

Man United needed all three points to keep the pressure on run away leaders Manchester City who play later in the day against Newcastle.

It was a drab first half affair as both side failed to cave out meaningful chances despite having the creative and attacking talent of Pogba, Lukaku, Martial and Mata.

It was a much better second half from both sides as both teams as they tried to go for the kill, but it was Manchester United that got the lead.

Burnley probed and probed but could not break down a very resolute United defence, the game ended 1-0 and Mourinho's men cut City's lead to nine points.
