Real Madrid star Luka Modric offer to pays £880,000 to avoid jail sentence (Details, pics)

Real Madrid midfielder Luka Modric has reportedly paid the sum of £880,000 to Spanish tax authorities to avoid jail term.

The 32-year-old Croatian international was due in court yesterday, January 9, to receive his sentence after being accused of two counts of tax fraud over his image rights which date back to 2013 and 2014.

But according to the report by El Mundo, the former Tottenham star accepted the punishment and voluntarily offered to pay back the money before his court date.

Luka Modric left Premier League club Tottenham in 2011 when current Manchester United coach Jose Mourinho took the Croatian to the Bernabeu.

He has won the Champions League on three occasions, La Liga twice, the Fifa Club World Cup and Uefa Super Cup three times each, the Copa del Rey the Spanish Super Cup twice at Real Madrid.
