Tension in Agada as Ex education minister raises alarm over herdsmen, cows invasion into the community (Details, pics)

A former Minister of State for Education in the Yar'Adua administration, Prof. Jerry Agada, has hinted of the heightened tension in Agatu Local Government Area of Benue State due to the influx of herdsmen and cows.

Agada, who spoke at the stakeholders' meeting held at Government House, Makurdi, on Monday, said Fulani herdsmen had threatened to invade the Agatu communities with their cows, not minding the anti-open grazing law in place.

"Let me give the leaders and government of the state some useful information." A man from Agatu Local Government called me on Saturday that Fulani herdsmen had threatened to invade their communities with their cows."

"As I was coming here this morning, the man called me on phone that the herdsmen have carried out their threat, with thousands of cows that have invaded Agatu communities."

He further quoted his informant as saying that "tension has heightened in Agatu with the influx of cows."
