Wayne Rooney puts BMW i8 electric supercar up for sale over drink drive charge (Details, pics)

Former Manchester United striker, Wayne Rooney, has placed his eco-friendly BMW electric supercar on sale after he was banned from the roads for drink-driving.

Rooney is hoping to get £64,995 for his metallic ionic silver motor that can reach 60 mph in just 4.4 seconds. The 31-year-old Everton attacker was caught drink-driving last September during an infamous night out in Cheshire with his breathalyser showing an alcohol level of nearly three times the legal limit.

Aside the driving ban, Rooney was ordered to perform 100 hours of unpaid work as part of a 12-month community order. He has now sold his car to an approved BMW dealership in Blackpool, which is advertising it on Auto Trader.

The price is around £50,000 less than the price Rooney paid when he took delivery of the i8 in January 2015.
