Protests as Nigeria Police allegedly arrests journalist in his home town on new year's day for criticising President Buhari (Details, pics)

United Kingdom-based publisher, Daniel Elombah has been reportedly arrested by the Special Anti-Robbery Squad unit of the Nigeria Police Force.

Elombah, the publisher of elombah.com was allegedly picked up in his hometown in Nnewi, Anambra state on Monday, January 1, alongside his brother, Tim. According to tweets monitored on Twitter, Elombah was picked up for criticising President Muhammadu Buhari in an article he published on his blog.

Many Nigerians have however taken to Twitter to call for the release of the publisher, who is also a lawyer.

Prominent among those calling for Elombah's release is a former minister of aviation, Chief Femi Fani-Kayode.
